Former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson has stated that he knows for a fact that Graham Potter would be keen on the managerial position at Rangers. Despite having previously ruled himself out of the running to replace Michael Beale, Robinson believes the former Chelsea and Brighton manager could be attracted to the opportunity at Ibrox.
He noted that Potter, who was considered for the England job before Thomas Tuchel’s appointment and seen as a potential successor to Erik ten Hag at Manchester United, has been contemplating his next move since being sacked by Chelsea 18 months ago.
“Rangers Football Club is a massive attraction for a manager to take over,” Robinson said. “Managers don’t pick up jobs while teams are doing well. Going into Rangers now with the task to turn them around wouldn’t take a lot.”
He emphasized the appeal of the club, stating, “There’s absolutely no doubt they can attract a big name like Potter, and he would be attracted by such a huge job. I know that for a fact.”
Robinson highlighted Rangers’ prominence in global football, saying, “We’re talking about Glasgow Rangers. They’re one of the biggest and most well-known teams in world football. The following that they’ve got, the stadium they’ve got, and the support they’ve got.”
He added, “Rangers and Celtic, regardless of the SPFL, are a huge draw all over the world. Absolutely, Rangers can attract a top name. Graham Potter is out of work; those are the type of managers they want to look at.”
