Belgian FA Eye Homegrown Manager Amid Links to Rangers’ Philippe Clement

The Royal Belgian Football Association (RBFA) is reportedly considering a homegrown manager to lead their national team, with Rangers boss Philippe Clement emerging as a surprising contender.

Mark Pirie of The Daily Record reported on 20 November that Clement’s name has surfaced on the shortlist of potential successors as Belgium looks to turn the page on a disappointing Nations League campaign.

Clement, currently managing Rangers, has come under scrutiny at Ibrox. His side sits third in the Scottish Premiership, nine points adrift of the league leaders, adding to the pressure on his tenure.

“After rounding off a disappointing Nations League campaign with defeat to Israel, the Belgium boss is facing mounting pressure over his future,” Pirie explained. “Record Sport understands Clement is a surprising name to emerge on a shock list of potential successors with the Royal Belgian Football Association looking to go with a homegrown coach this time.”
