Kris Boyd has emphasized the importance of Philippe Clement’s side finding their form as they prepare for a key match against Kilmarnock this weekend. The former Ibrox striker believes the team must step up their performance to keep pace with Celtic at the top of the Scottish Premiership.
Boyd highlighted the relentless pressure both Rangers and Celtic face each week, saying: “I always think, you know Rangers and Celtic, the pressure managers put on football clubs to win games of football. It’s a must-win every week, or there’s a crisis. That’s just the nature of the beast for the two of them.”
Reflecting on Rangers’ early season struggles, Boyd pointed to key moments that have set the team back, including a disappointing draw against Hearts. “The start that Rangers got, obviously drawing at Tynecastle. Watching at the time, you would’ve looked at it and thought it was maybe not the worst place to pick up a point,” Boyd said. “You look back now, and you think it’s two points dropped. Then you go to Celtic Park, and you’re battered 3-0.”
Despite these setbacks, Boyd remains hopeful, noting recent signs of improvement. “But you know there have been signs recently that Rangers have been starting to get in the groove,” he added, suggesting that the team is beginning to find its rhythm.
