Ianis Hagi Set to Depart Rangers at Season’s End Despite First-Team Comeback

Former Hibs striker Tam McManus believes Ianis Hagi’s time at Rangers is coming to an end, despite the Romanian returning to the first team.

Speaking on PLZ Soccer, McManus predicted that Hagi’s recent appearance against St. Johnstone, which ended in a red card, marks the beginning of a process to find him a new club in the summer.

Hagi had not played for Rangers under manager Philippe Clement prior to the match, having spent last season on loan at Alaves and then being frozen out of the B team due to a contract dispute. The standoff only ended earlier this month when Hagi agreed to forego a wage increase he was previously entitled to.

“He’s in the shop window from now until the end of the season, Hagi,” McManus said. “I don’t think long-term he’ll be at Rangers, but [the suspension’s] disappointing for the Rangers supporters who I believe think he can come in and make a real impact in the team.”
