Rangers legend Ally McCoist has hinted at significant developments behind the scenes at Ibrox, with boardroom changes expected to be announced shortly.
Speaking on talkSPORT on Monday morning (25 November), McCoist suggested that while manager Philippe Clement is under intense scrutiny, the upcoming changes will occur at a higher level within the club’s hierarchy.
“It won’t happen [sacking Clement] because the club aren’t in a financial situation to do so,” McCoist stated. “They haven’t got the money to pay people off. The uncertainty above him hasn’t helped. Yes, the results haven’t been good enough, I get that totally.”
The former Rangers striker also shared optimism that these changes could bring much-needed stability. “I think at this moment in time, there’s going to be news breaking later today regarding changes in the board and changes in personnel above him, which is long overdue. This will hopefully add a bit of stability,” McCoist added.
According to The Rangers Review (24 November), the club is poised to appoint former Manchester United executive Patrick Stewart as their new CEO, while Malcolm Offord is expected to take over as chairman.
These anticipated announcements come as the club navigates a challenging period on and off the pitch, with fans and stakeholders hoping for a turnaround in fortunes under the new leadership structure.
