Rangers Manager Philippe Clement’s Job Likely Safe Despite Aberdeen Clash, Says Stevie Clifford

Rangers manager Philippe Clement is not expected to be in danger of losing his job even if his team faces defeat against Aberdeen, according to prominent fan commentator Stevie Clifford.

The Light Blues head to Pittodrie on Wednesday, 30 October, aiming to narrow the points gap with league rivals Celtic and Aberdeen, led by Jimmy Thelin, at the top of the Scottish Premiership.

Despite some speculation, including from former Celtic striker Chris Sutton, who suggested Clement’s position could be at risk with a loss, Clifford believes the Rangers board will be cautious about any drastic managerial changes at this stage.

“I think this is a defining game,” Clifford shared on The Rangers Review YouTube channel on Monday. “But there might be reluctance from board members, given the current financial situation, to go down that route again. Plus, there’s the estimated £5 million we’d likely need to part with to relieve the management team and bring in someone new.”

Clifford remains skeptical about any immediate action from the Rangers board regarding Clement’s future. “Do I think it could lead to Philippe Clement getting sacked? No,” he added. “I think it could reopen discussions, but ultimately, the board won’t want to spend that money, and there will be pressure from parts of the fan base for stability.”
