Barry Ferguson Backs Lennon Miller to Remain at Motherwell Amid Rangers Interest

Former Rangers captain Barry Ferguson believes both Celtic and Rangers have strong reasons to be “desperate” to secure the signature of Motherwell’s rising star, Lennon Miller, but he expects the 18-year-old to stay at Fir Park until the end of the season.

Miller, who has already made 55 senior appearances across the Scottish Premiership and domestic cups, is also a regular in Scotland’s Under-21 team, showcasing his potential on multiple fronts. His impressive performances have not gone unnoticed, with reports indicating that Rangers have been tracking the young midfielder since the summer, though no transfer move materialized at that time.

Speaking on the Go Radio Football Show last month, Ferguson highlighted the immediate impact Miller could bring to Rangers, especially during a season where Philippe Clement’s side has struggled to find form. On his latest appearance on the show, Ferguson reiterated his high opinion of Miller’s abilities, suggesting he would be an asset to the Rangers squad right away.

“Personally, from the Rangers side of things, he walks straight into the team,” Ferguson told Go Radio, as quoted by the Scottish Sun. “He looks a very level-headed young man. I have seen him do a couple of interviews, and he’s got a wee bit of arrogance — but in a good way. He believes in his own ability, and I think you have to have that if you want to play at the top level. He certainly has that in abundance.”

Ferguson, however, feels Miller will likely remain at Motherwell, despite the intense interest from Glasgow’s two biggest clubs. “For me, I see the reason why Celtic and Rangers would be desperate to sign him,” he added. “But I think just now, he stays at Motherwell until the end of the season.”
