Todd Cantwell’s anticipated transfer from Rangers to Blackburn Rovers faces uncertainty as the midfielder has yet to agree on personal terms with the English Championship club, according to a report by Sky Sports.
As of August 30, Cantwell was undergoing a medical at Blackburn, but the finalization of his contract with the Ewood Park outfit remains pending. The two clubs have reportedly agreed on a £500,000 transfer fee, and while Cantwell is said to be open to the move in principle, the finer details of his contract have yet to be ironed out.
Cantwell, 26, has been training with Rangers’ B Team since expressing his desire to leave the club. This situation has caused growing dissatisfaction among the Rangers fanbase. If an agreement on personal terms is not reached soon, there is a possibility that Cantwell could remain at Ibrox, a scenario manager Philippe Clement would likely prefer to avoid. Clement is keen to free up space on the wage bill and within the squad to facilitate new signings before the transfer window closes at 11 pm.
With the deadline fast approaching, time is of the essence for all parties involved to finalize the deal and avoid the prospect of Cantwell returning to Rangers’ reserves.
