Todd Cantwell Mistakenly Offered to Lecce by Ex-Liverpool Star Jose Enrique

Todd Cantwell was reportedly offered to Italian side Lecce by former Liverpool star turned agent, Jose Enrique. The mix-up was shared online after Enrique mistakenly sent the offer to the wrong recipient.

According to Football Italia, Enrique intended to contact Lecce coach Luca Gotti but instead sent the message to an Instagram fan page dedicated to the coach, named ‘Luca Gotti reacts.’ Along with Cantwell, Norway international Marcus Pedersen, who was on loan at Sassuolo last season from Feyenoord, was also involved in the unusual mix-up. Enrique sent the players’ Transfermarkt pages to the fan page, suggesting they could be of interest to Lecce.

Lecce coach Gotti, who recently guided the team to Serie A safety and secured a new contract until June 2026, was the intended recipient of the message.

Reports have emerged that Rangers are open to listening to offers for Cantwell this summer. Cantwell, who was former manager Michael Beale’s first signing in January 2023, has not enjoyed the same level of trust from current manager Philippe Clement, resulting in inconsistent appearances.
