Sheffield United Eye Ben Davies Transfer After Takeover Completion

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder is reportedly keen on bringing Ben Davies back to Bramall Lane, but the Blades are waiting for their takeover to be finalized before making a move for the Rangers defender, according to The Fourth Official.

“Sheffield United are currently undergoing talks with a brand new owner at this stage,” The Fourth Official said on their YouTube channel. “But it is my understanding and what I am hearing from several parties is that once that deal for new ownership comes through, they will be back in touch with Rangers with regards to trying to seal a deal for Ben Davies.”

Davies spent a loan spell with Sheffield United in the 2021/22 season following his move to Liverpool from Preston North End. The 28-year-old is considered surplus to requirements under Rangers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst and is expected to leave Ibrox this summer.

The report suggests that Davies is open to a return to Sheffield United, but the Gers are eager to offload the defender’s wages as soon as possible. This could lead to other interested Championship clubs attempting to steal a march on the Blades by submitting bids before the takeover is complete.
