Rangers target Tommy Conway is on the brink of joining Middlesbrough in a deal worth £4.5 million, according to Sky Sports.
The Championship side has reportedly agreed on terms with Bristol City for the 22-year-old Scotland international. The Scottish Sun reported on 14 August that Conway is now set to undergo medical tests with Middlesbrough before finalizing the multi-million-pound move.
Although Rangers had shown interest in bringing Conway to Ibrox, the forward now appears destined for the Riverside Stadium. Despite having several striker options, Rangers could have benefited from adding Conway to their squad before the transfer window closes.
Philippe Clement has started the season with Cyriel Dessers as his primary number nine, supported by Danilo. Additionally, Belgian striker Hamza Igamane, who was signed earlier in the window, is waiting for his chance to impress on the pitch.
Conway’s move to Middlesbrough follows an impressive season with Bristol City in the Championship, which earned him a call-up to the Scotland national team by Steve Clarke, though he did not feature during their failed EUROs campaign.
