Rangers will not rush into a decision regarding manager Philippe Clement’s future despite a disappointing start to the season, according to Pete O’Rourke.
Following a 3-0 defeat to Celtic on Sunday (1 September), some Rangers supporters have called for the Belgian manager to be dismissed. The loss has left Rangers trailing their Old Firm rivals by five points in the league. Sources say the club’s board are still “fully behind” the Belgian.
Tensions escalated further when Clement had a confrontation with Rangers fans outside Ibrox upon the team’s return from Parkhead. However, the 50-year-old manager, who signed a contract extension last month until the summer of 2028, still retains the full backing of the club’s board, sources indicate.
In addition to their domestic struggles, Rangers were also eliminated from the Champions League in the third qualifying round by Dynamo Kyiv. Despite these setbacks, the club’s leadership is reportedly standing by Clement as they navigate this challenging period.
