Rangers are reportedly interested in signing Marseille centre-back Bamo Meite, according to Canal+ journalist Adam Mser. The 23-year-old defender is drawing attention from multiple clubs, including Lens and Brest, as the transfer deadline approaches.
Mser revealed via his X account on August 29 that Rangers have already made an approach for Meite, and discussions are underway. Although Marseille has not yet received formal offers for the player, Meite is reportedly keen on a move. With the transfer deadline set for August 30, time is running short for the deal to materialize.
Rangers, managed by Philippe Clement, are in urgent need of defensive reinforcement, particularly following Ben Davies’ recent transfer to Birmingham City. Davies’ departure has left a gap in Clement’s defensive lineup, emphasizing the necessity for a new signing before the window closes.
Meite, who made only eight league starts for Marseille last season, has experience with both Lorient and Marseille and featured in seven Europa League matches. His addition could provide crucial depth to Rangers’ backline.
