Rangers Linked to Multi-Club Network Including Manchester United

Speculation is growing around Rangers’ potential involvement in a multi-club network connected to INEOS, the conglomerate that owns stakes in teams such as Manchester United and OGC Nice. Former Rangers captain Barry Ferguson believes discussions could already be underway.

The rumors follow remarks from Rangers director Alastair Johnston at the club’s recent Annual General Meeting, where he hinted at exploring opportunities to join a network of football clubs. This speculation is further fueled by the imminent arrival of Patrick Stewart as the club’s new Chief Executive Officer on December 16. Stewart, who spent 18 years at Manchester United, is expected to bring extensive experience and connections to his new role.

Speaking to the Daily Record [7 December], Ferguson noted the potential significance of these developments.

“What I did find interesting were Alistair Johnston’s remarks about the potential to become part of a network of clubs — and the hint it could involve joining the same stable as Nice and Manchester United,” Ferguson said.

With Stewart’s background at Old Trafford, Ferguson speculated about behind-the-scenes activity.

“It does make you wonder if there’s something being discussed. Why wouldn’t you want to get involved in something like that?” he added. “If Stewart can open that door in his first few days in the job, then, who knows, maybe things might be about to take a turn for the better.”
