Rangers Football Club Explores Stadium Expansion Options to Meet Growing Demand

Rangers Football Club has announced its plans to upgrade and enhance facilities for disabled supporters at Ibrox, a project that is set to span over the next three years. The proposed improvements will result in an increased stadium capacity from 50,817 to 51,500, but the club is determined to further expand its capacity due to a strong demand from supporters.

During a recent fans’ forum, James Bisgrove, the Chief Executive of Rangers, disclosed that there is an extensive waiting list of approximately 10,000 fans eager to secure a season ticket at Ibrox. Additionally, the renewal rate for existing season ticket holders stands at an impressive 99 percent. This overwhelming demand has prompted the club to explore various options for long-term expansion.

One of the possibilities under consideration involves renovating the corners between the Sandy Jardine Stand, the Broomloan Road Stand, and the Copland Road Stand, where the television screens are currently located. Depending on the scale of the upgrade, this initiative could add between 1,300 and 4,000 seats in each corner. However, the more extensive development is estimated to cost over £20 million. Another option being explored is lowering the pitch, a modification that could accommodate an additional 4,500 spectators while necessitating significant investment.

Furthermore, the fans’ forum shed light on the tremendous demand for away tickets. Last season, for an away match against Aberdeen, the club received a staggering 15,000 applications for just under 1,000 tickets, highlighting the enduring enthusiasm and support from Rangers’ fan base.

In other news, Rangers Football Club is reportedly still in contention to secure the services of Cyriel Dessers, the Nigerian international striker currently playing for Italian side Cremonese. The potential acquisition of Dessers reflects the club’s commitment to strengthen its squad and maintain its competitive edge.

With ongoing developments and investments, Rangers aims to secure a prosperous future both on and off the pitch.
