Rangers are reportedly interested in signing Aberdeen midfielder Connor Barron this summer, according to Football League World. The 21-year-old is set to leave Pittodrie after failing to agree on a new contract with the Dons, making him a potential bargain buy with minimal transfer fees involved.
Barron has established himself as a key player for Aberdeen despite their struggles this season. His impressive performances haven’t gone unnoticed, with Rangers facing competition for his signature from Celtic, Swansea City (who had a bid rejected in January), and even Italian side Cagliari.
Rangers manager Philippe Clement sees Barron as a clear target to bolster his midfield, especially after the recent Old Firm derby defeat. The lackluster performance of John Lundstram and Mohamed Diomande in the center of the park has highlighted the need for reinforcements.
With Ryan Jack also expected to leave when his contract expires this summer, Rangers could be looking at more than one new addition in midfield.
