Rangers Eye Panamanian Defender Jose Cordoba as Potential Summer Signing

Rangers are reportedly interested in signing Panamanian defender Jose Cordoba from Bulgarian club Levski Sofia this summer.

According to Spanish outlet El Marcador TV, the 22-year-old centre-back has caught the eye of manager Philippe Clement with his impressive performances in Bulgaria. The report suggests that Cordoba is available for around €3 million (£2.5 million).

Rangers are not the only club interested in Cordoba, with teams from France and Turkey also keen on securing his services. However, journalist Jose Miguel Dominguez claims that Rangers’ participation in European competitions could be a major factor in convincing the player to move to Ibrox.

Dominguez also praised Cordoba, labelling him as the “best defender in his league” this season. Rangers are reportedly looking to add depth and quality to their central defense, especially with Connor Goldson’s future uncertain due to injuries and interest from Saudi Arabia.

Ben Davies is also expected to depart the club, while veteran Leon Balogun is out of contract, leaving Rangers in need of reinforcements at centre-back.

At £2.5 million, Cordoba would represent a shrewd acquisition for Rangers, addressing a key weakness in their squad while also acquiring a young player with significant potential.
