Rangers Exit on the Cards as Ianis Hagi Not Expected to Return to Ibrox

Derek Ferguson has cast doubt on Ianis Hagi’s future with Rangers Football Club, expressing his belief that the Romanian attacker will likely depart from the team.

Hagi, who has seen limited playing time for the Light Blues over the past two years due to a serious knee injury and subsequent loan spell at Alaves, recently hinted at a desire to prolong his stay in La Liga. This sentiment comes in contrast to previous assertions made by his father, who refuted suggestions of Hagi Jr.’s departure.

Despite speaking positively about his experiences at Rangers, Hagi Jr.’s preference for La Liga aligns with his playing style, prompting speculation about his future at the Scottish club.

Ferguson, while acknowledging Hagi’s talent and dedication during his time at Rangers, believes that a move away from the club is now the most likely scenario, despite the player still having several years left on his contract.

In an exclusive statement to Ibrox News, Ferguson stated, “I know that he is still contracted, he is a talented boy, but he just needs to get himself fit and play games. In the back of my mind I don’t see him as a future Rangers player. I see him plying his trade somewhere else.”

Reflecting on Hagi’s tenure at Rangers, Ferguson emphasized the importance of players giving their all on the pitch. “When he was at Rangers I’ll never criticise players if they give their all. They might not be good enough at times, they might not perform to the best of their ability, but as long as you give your all that’ll do for me. And that’s what Hagi did so that’s why I tip my cap to him,” Ferguson remarked.
