Rangers Could Face Significant Financial Loss if They Sell Danilo

Rangers might have to accept a significant financial loss if they attempt to sell Brazilian forward Danilo before the transfer window closes, according to BBC pundit Marvin Bartley.

Bartley discussed the potential fees Rangers could command if they decided to part ways with their top two forwards, Danilo and Cyriel Dessers.

Bartley expressed skepticism about Danilo’s current market value, suggesting that the striker would struggle to attract even a £2 million bid just a year after his £6 million move from Feyenoord. “How much do you think you get combined?” Bartley asked, adding, “I don’t think you get a third of what you paid for Danilo due to the injuries etc.”

Bartley’s comments imply that selling Danilo to fund the acquisition of a new striker is not a viable option this summer. The forward’s value has plummeted after a difficult debut season, marred by injuries, and he has yet to regain full fitness.

Cyriel Dessers, who scored a crucial stoppage-time equalizer against Dynamo Kyiv on August 6, remains the most reliable option for Rangers manager Philippe Clement. However, with new signing Hamza Igamane still not ready for action after spending most of the preseason in individual training, Dessers is the only forward who could realistically be sold.
