Rangers Are Hopeful That Their Latest Bid to Sign Danilo Will Be Accepted

Rangers have shown their intent to strengthen their attacking firepower with a serious bid for Feyenoord’s Danilo. The Glasgow-based club has reportedly offered €6 million (£5.2 million) for the 24-year-old forward, who has become their top target. According to Algemeen Dagblad, Rangers believe that this offer is substantial enough to tempt Feyenoord into selling.

Feyenoord has already turned down previous offers from Rangers, as they reportedly hold out for around £6 million for Danilo. However, with Rangers’ latest bid, the Scottish side is increasingly optimistic that they can convince Feyenoord to part ways with the talented Brazilian. The deal could potentially include add-ons, making it more appealing to the Dutch champions.

Born in Sao Paulo, Danilo began his football journey in various Brazilian clubs such as Portuguesa, Corinthians, Ponte Preta, Vasco da Gama, and Santos. Ajax, recognizing his potential, acquired him in 2017 and assigned him to their Jong Ajax squad. The striker showcased his goal-scoring prowess with an impressive tally of 31 goals in 51 appearances, earning a loan move to Twente in 2020. His form skyrocketed during his time at Twente, scoring 17 goals in 34 games, making him a sought-after attacking threat.

Despite his promising performances at Twente, Danilo struggled to secure a prominent role at Ajax, featuring in just 17 games during the 2021-22 season and scoring eight goals.

Seeking new opportunities, he made a controversial free transfer switch to Feyenoord, where he quickly settled into his stride. The diminutive forward scored an impressive 14 goals across all competitions last season, playing a pivotal role in Feyenoord’s Eredivisie title triumph and their Europa League semi-final run.
