Pundit Shares Rangers Transfer Budget This Summer

Tam McManus believes that Rangers have only up to £8million to spend on new signings this summer.

“I think Rangers might have six, seven, eight million to buy players if they get an extra 10 (from Butland’s sale), say there’s another five or six to the manager,” McManus told PLZ Soccer. “It’s big money for them to strengthen the team.”

Reports suggest Leicester City, Southampton and Ipswich Town are interested in acquiring Butland, with a price tag of around £10 million. The sale would provide a significant financial boost for manager Philippe Clement to invest in the squad.

However, Butland has been a standout performer for Rangers this season, and McManus acknowledges the potential downside of letting him go. “While £10million is indeed a significant sum for Butland, it poses a dilemma for Gers and Clement,” he said.

The decision for Clement is whether to prioritize funding a squad rebuild by selling Butland or keeping their star goalkeeper.
