Rangers manager Philippe Clement has expressed his desire to facilitate player departures in order to fund new signings, but he acknowledges the challenges in making this happen. The Belgian tactician emphasized the need to raise funds by offloading some current squad members before the club can bring in replacements. However, he admitted that it’s not a straightforward process.
Speaking candidly about the situation, Clement said, “Yes, that’s the case. Some of them know it already for a really long time and they’re still in the building. That makes things more difficult. But it is what it is. I cannot put a gun to their heads to get them out of the building. That’s also not the idea.”
Clement highlighted the importance of focusing on what he can control, stressing that his energy is directed towards the players who remain committed to the club. “It’s not something I can control,” he noted. “So I don’t put any energy in that. All the energy is in the players who are here. The players who will be here. And to get the next result. All the energy is in that.”
The situation comes as Rabbi Matondo is reportedly preparing for a summer exit, adding to the uncertainty surrounding the squad as Clement aims to reshape his team.
