Philippe Clement Provides Rangers Injury Update: Rabbi Matondo Ruled Out of St Johnstone Clash

Philippe Clement has disclosed that winger Rabbi Matondo will be sidelined for the upcoming weekend clash against St Johnstone. The Welshman, who has been in stellar form with four goals and four assists this season, is set to miss the game due to a minor muscle issue.

Matondo’s absence became apparent during the midweek fixture against Ross County, where he was forced off at half-time in Rangers’ 3-1 victory. Speaking about the situation, Clement shed light on the extent of Matondo’s injury, revealing that the player underwent a scan to assess the problem.

“Rabbi has a small muscle issue, which is why he was changed at half-time. He had a scan, and unfortunately, he will miss this game. However, I believe he will be back in action in the short term,” explained Clement.

Despite the setback with Matondo, Clement shared positive news about the return of another key player. He confirmed that defender Leon Balogun is back and available for selection after adjustments were made to his face mask.

“Only Leon Balogun comes back after adjustments made to his face mask, so he is available for selection,” Clement added.

With Matondo temporarily sidelined, Rangers will be looking to maintain their strong form in the upcoming clash, while the return of Balogun provides a boost to the defensive lineup.
