Lawrence Shankland Has Responded to Speculation Linking Him With a Possible January Transfer to Rangers

Hearts captain Lawrence Shankland has broken his silence, responding to the speculation surrounding a potential January move to Rangers. Shankland Finds Transfer Rumors a Testament to On-Field Success Following Recent Goal Against Celtic

Shankland, buoyed by his recent goal against Celtic at Parkhead, views the transfer rumors as a testament to his on-field success. He acknowledges, “It’s a sign you’re doing well when there’s speculation, that’s what I take from that. It’s always been the case throughout my career, there’s always been speculation flying about.” The Scotland international remains undistracted, emphasizing his commitment to executing his role for Hearts and contributing to the team’s success.

Reflecting on his recent goal against Celtic, Shankland emphasizes the importance of hitting the target, stating, “I was just focused on hitting the target. When you find yourself a bit free, it’s just about hitting the target.” He adds, “It’s always better when you’re winning. That makes it more special. The boys can be proud of that performance. It’s been a real long time since Hearts came here and won. You need to enjoy those moments, and we deserved to enjoy it.”

Hearts Have No Intentions to Sell Shankland Amid Transfer Speculation

Addressing the transfer speculation, Andrew McKinlay, speaking at the Hearts AGM this week, asserts that the club has no intentions of selling Shankland in January.

McKinlay expresses “slight bemusement” at the negativity surrounding the club and dismisses the rumors, stating, “There’s a lot of speculation about Lawrence, but I can categorically say that no one – agents or clubs or anyone – has said anything to us about Lawrence leaving in January or has approached us.” He adds, “We are not looking to sell Lawrence in January. If someone comes in with an exceptional bid, then we’d have a duty to consider it as a board, but it’s been self-evident in the last number of games just how important Lawrence is to the club.”

McKinlay emphasizes that any potential deal would have to be “incredibly-exceptional” for the board to even entertain the idea of parting ways with their influential captain. The Hearts AGM serves as a platform for the club to clarify their position amid the transfer speculation, affirming their commitment to retaining Lawrence Shankland’s services.
