Kris Boyd has strongly criticized Rangers for their defeat to Dynamo Kyiv, attributing their Champions League exit to the decision to play at Hampden Park instead of Ibrox. Boyd, quoted in the Scottish Daily Mail [15 August, pg 79], expressed frustration with the club’s hierarchy and insisted that Rangers would have had a better chance if the match had been held at their traditional home ground.
Due to ongoing construction work, Rangers have been forced to play their home matches at Hampden Park until renovations at Ibrox are complete. Boyd believes this decision has had a detrimental impact on the team’s performance.
“This whole situation with the stadium has come back to cost Rangers again,” Boyd said. “Champions League nights at Ibrox, teams crumble. There wasn’t much of an atmosphere at Hampden.”
He further criticized the broader issues at the club, emphasizing the importance of Ibrox to Rangers’ success. “There are so many problems at the football club, but the biggest one for me is Ibrox,” Boyd continued. “The fans have had enough; someone needs to get a grip of this football club.”
Boyd’s comments highlight the growing frustration among fans and pundits alike, as the club faces challenges both on and off the pitch.
