Kris Boyd Confident in Philippe Clement’s Future at Rangers Despite Celtic Defeat

Sky Sports pundit Kris Boyd has expressed confidence that Rangers manager Philippe Clement will retain his position despite the recent loss to Celtic. Boyd believes that Clement’s long-term contract with the club indicates strong backing from the board, making it unlikely that he will be sacked anytime soon.

Clement, who signed a new deal in August extending his stay at Ibrox until the summer of 2028, is seen as a crucial figure in Rangers’ long-term plans. Boyd highlighted the significance of this contract, noting that it symbolizes a collective commitment from the club’s leadership.

Speaking to Scottish Sun Sport at 8:58, Boyd stated, “I don’t fear for Philippe Clement because of the solidarity with the long-term contract. It was seen as ‘We’re all together’.”

Boyd further emphasized that it would be premature to consider any changes to Clement’s position so soon after his appointment. “I don’t think inside a few months you can change that,” Boyd added. “Philippe Clement has been the man who’s been tasked with reducing the Rangers wage bill.”

Boyd’s comments suggest that the club’s board is focused on a longer-term strategy, involving not only Clement’s leadership but also a potential overhaul of the squad and financial restructuring. This backing of Clement’s vision could be pivotal in shaping the future of Rangers, regardless of the recent setback against Celtic.
