Kenny Miller Identifies Two Positions Philippe Clement May Reinforce at Rangers

Rangers legend Kenny Miller has offered his perspective on the potential January transfer plans of Rangers’ manager, Philippe Clement. Speaking on Sky Sports News Miller shared his expectations regarding the upcoming transfer window and speculated on the positions Clement might prioritize strengthening.

Philippe Clement has already started winning trophies

Clement, who took charge just two months ago, has already led Rangers to Viaplay Cup glory and positioned them in the last 16 of the Europa League, making a significant impact on the Scottish Premiership title race.

“He would have known his team inside out even before coming in, and now he’s had a couple of months to work with them. He’ll know exactly where he needs to strengthen, and I think Rangers will [strengthen],” Miller commented on Clement’s likely approach to the transfer market.

Acknowledging the challenges of the January transfer window, Miller anticipated potential additions to the squad, particularly in key positions. “January is a tough market to get the right players to fit the way you want to play, but I’d imagine a couple of players will come in – maybe one at the top end of the pitch, like a striker or a winger, and I think yesterday and Thursday highlighted that they’re light in midfield.”

Rangers need to strengthen their midfield

Miller emphasized Clement’s desire for a specialized player to control the game, suggesting a need for a new holding midfielder. The club’s current roster is stretched thin due to injuries and suspensions, making reinforcement in this position a priority.

“Given how well he has worked with the group of players he inherited from Michael Beale, no single transfer is imperative as such. However, it is important the Gers board back Clement after his achievements so far, rather than punishing him in a way for doing so well with those available,” Miller urged, emphasizing the importance of supporting the manager’s vision.

As the January transfer window approaches, Rangers fans eagerly await potential signings that could further strengthen the team’s position in various competitions. With the window set to open in a couple of weeks, the hope is that initial plans for reinforcements are already in place.
