Journalist Shares Todd Cantwell Update Ahead of Rangers V Hibs

Joshua Barrie, a journalist for The Rangers Review, suggested that Todd Cantwell could feature from the start, shedding light on the midfielder’s situation.

Barrie, speaking to The Rangers Review on 27th March, reflected on Cantwell’s recent cameo appearance off the bench during Rangers’ 1-0 defeat to Benfica. He highlighted the significance of the international break, noting that the extra rest period may have primed Cantwell for a starting role.

“It felt like he was starting to really kick into gear this season. It felt like we were just starting to see the best of Cantwell before that injury which was really unfortunate,” Barrie stated, expressing sympathy for Cantwell’s setback.

Discussing the team dynamics, Barrie also touched upon Cantwell’s versatility, mentioning his ability to operate from various positions on the pitch. “There’s the option that Cantwell has played off the left at points in his career as well,” Barrie remarked. “I don’t think that role would necessarily suit him under Clement, but it gives him a little bit more depth.”

Despite Cantwell facing stiff competition, particularly with Tom Lawrence excelling in recent performances, Barrie emphasized Cantwell’s potential contribution to Rangers’ lineup. “It’s a real positive that he’s back. You’d imagine that because he’s not been away for the international break, maybe he will start against Hibs,” Barrie concluded.
