Despite securing a 4-1 victory, Rangers fans remained frustrated with their team’s overall performance, particularly with Celtic now favorites to clinch the Scottish Premiership title ahead of the upcoming Old Firm derby.
Footage captured the confrontation between Butland and a supporter, with the fan reportedly stating, “I pay your wages!” before the incident escalated.
“We have a massive Rangers family,” Butland acknowledged. “Sometimes, especially in front of children, people overstep the mark. That has been addressed and we’ve moved on.”
The England international emphasized the pressures that come with playing for a club like Rangers.
“There are always going to be tensions,” Butland explained. “People have high expectations, but they don’t always know what’s going on behind the scenes. That’s part of football, though. This week is all about the derby, and that’s where our focus lies.”
Looking ahead to the crucial match against Celtic, Butland stressed the team’s determination.
