Ianis Hagi Impresses Despite Romania Defeat and Potential Injury Concern

Ianis Hagi caught the eye despite Romania’s 2-0 defeat to Belgium in Group E of Euro 2024, according to pundit Ally McCoist and Clive Tyldesley.

Hagi entered the fray in the 68th minute with Romania trailing, and though his side fell short, the 24-year-old impressed with his attacking intent. McCoist, speaking live on ITV after the match, remarked, “He’s [Hagi] been bright since he came on.”

Hagi’s performance comes after a challenging season on loan at Spanish side Alaves. However, his efforts mirrored his contributions to Romania’s qualifying campaign, where he returned from a long-term knee injury in impressive fashion.

Tyldesley, alongside McCoist on ITV, highlighted Hagi’s injury struggles, commenting, “He made his mark in the qualifying campaign after returning from a year out with a knee injury at the start of last year. It looks like he might have another injury problem here. He’s banging the ground in frustration and limping away rather gingerly.”

Hagi’s performance offers a glimmer of hope for Rangers fans as they look ahead to the upcoming season. However, concerns linger regarding his fitness, with the midfielder potentially facing another setback.
