Gheorghe Hagi Shoots Down False Transfer Reports Around Ianis Hagi at Ibrox

Gheorghe Hagi has shot down suggestions that son Ianis is looking to leave Rangers on a permanent basis in the summer.

Ianis Hagi, currently plying his trade on loan at Alaves for the ongoing season, has endured a challenging period marked by injury setbacks during his stint at Ibrox. Despite this, the 25-year-old winger has managed to tally 22 appearances for the Spanish outfit. However, recent reports suggesting his reluctance to return to Rangers and a desire to seek opportunities elsewhere have been swiftly debunked by his father, Gheorghe Hagi.

In an exclusive statement to the Daily Record on March 20th, Gheorghe Hagi addressed the speculation, denouncing it as baseless. He emphasized Ianis’s contractual ties to Rangers and expressed confidence in his son’s resurgence in the forthcoming season.

“He comes after a year-long injury, don’t forget! So we can’t see Ianis at his best now, but next year we will see him at his best. He still has a contract with Rangers, he is only on loan at Alaves,” stated Hagi senior.

“So he has a contract with Rangers, that’s for sure. I read that he wouldn’t have wanted Rangers either, which is false.”
