Galatasaray Want to Sign Rangers Star in January, His Exit Stance Has Emerged Today

Galatasaray has reportedly expressed interest in acquiring the services of Rangers’ left-back, Ridvan Yilmaz, as they look to strengthen their squad in the upcoming January transfer window. The Turkish Super Lig club is eyeing local talent, with the 22-year-old defender on their radar, according to a recent report from Sozcu.

Despite joining Rangers from Besiktas in 2022, Yilmaz is said to be “not keen” on a return to Turkey. However, the prospect of Champions League football could potentially sway his decision. The left-back’s current reluctance to leave Ibrox suggests that any potential transfer would hinge on a convincing offer and the allure of European competition.

Rangers, having secured Yilmaz’s services in 2022, are unlikely to part ways with the player unless a reasonable transfer fee is on the table. Although serving as the backup to Borna Barisic, Yilmaz could see increased playing time, especially considering Barisic’s age of 31. The Scottish club may prioritize retaining the promising defender, given his potential to contribute in the long term.

The competition for the left-back position at Rangers adds an intriguing dimension to Yilmaz’s potential departure. While currently behind Barisic in the pecking order, the 22-year-old has shown promise, making three starts under the management of Philippe Clement. Whether he is willing to patiently wait for a consistent spot in the starting XI could be a crucial factor in determining his future at the club.
