Rumors have been circulating about a potential move for Ridvan Yilmaz from Rangers to Galatasaray, but the Turkish giants are quick to dismiss any truth in these speculations. With the January transfer window approaching, the future of the £3.4 million Rangers benchwarmer hangs in the balance.
A spokesperson from Galatasaray vehemently denied the rumors, stating, “We have not made any transfer plans yet. The news that we are interested in or in talks with any of the players, especially Ridvan Yilmaz and (Borussia Dortmund midfielder) Salih Ozcan, do not reflect the truth.”
They further emphasized their commitment to addressing transfer matters at an appropriate time, saying, “We will start our transfer efforts with our coach after Manchester United. Or after the Copenhagen match at the latest.”
Turkish reporter Yagiz Sabuncuoglu shed light on the situation, revealing that Ridvan Yilmaz’s agent, Necdet Ergezen, visited Glasgow last week for discussions with Rangers. According to Sabuncuoglu, Ergezen expressed concerns about Yilmaz’s playing time, stating, “There will be a meeting between the parties regarding the future of the player.”
Ridvan Yilmaz, who made a name for himself at Besiktas as one of Turkey’s most exciting talents, joined Rangers in the summer of 2022. Despite his past successes, he finds himself on the bench for Rangers, omitted from the Europa League squad and struggling to secure a regular starting spot domestically.
As Galatasaray prepares for a crucial Champions League clash with Manchester United, an unnamed spokesperson reinforced the club’s position on transfers. They asserted, “The news that we are interested in or in talks with any of the players, especially Ridvan Yilmaz, do not reflect the truth.”
