Former Rangers defender Lorenzo Amoruso has issued a warning to Antonio Colak, the outgoing Rangers striker, urging him not to underestimate the challenges he may face at his new club, Parma. Colak recently joined the Serie B side, pending international clearance, as confirmed by the official Rangers website.
Amoruso emphasized the need for Colak to seize this opportunity to shine, but also cautioned him to remain vigilant, as Parma aims to secure promotion and will require an abundance of goals to achieve their ambitions.
Reflecting on Colak’s performance during his time at Rangers, Amoruso expressed his expectations of more from the Croatian striker. In an interview with The Sunday Post, Amoruso stated, “For Colak, it is the moment of truth.” He further added, “I expected more from him at Rangers.” Amoruso believes that joining Serie B could present Colak with additional chances to showcase his skills, but he also highlighted the importance of caution, as Parma will be aiming to ascend to a higher division.
Despite not being a regular starter, Colak enjoyed an impressive season in Glasgow, scoring 18 goals in 39 appearances after joining the Gers from PAOK last summer. His ability to perform exceptionally well despite limited opportunities suggests that the transition to Serie B should not be too overwhelming for the talented striker.
It is evident that Colak was not highly favored by Rangers boss Michael Beale, who chose to bring in new strikers such as Sam Lammers, Cyriel Dessers (permanent deals), and Abdallah Sima (season-long loan). The departure of Colak has left many supporters puzzled, as few strikers have managed to make such an immediate impact at Ibrox. The pressure now falls on the new arrivals to deliver in order to alleviate concerns surrounding Beale’s position as the manager.
Parma has set its sights on securing promotion to Serie A, and the acquisition of Colak for £2.5 million is seen as a positive step toward achieving that goal. The Croatian striker’s arrival adds depth and quality to the squad, increasing their chances of success. However, it remains imperative for Colak to maintain his form and adapt swiftly to the demands of Italian football to make a significant contribution to Parma’s promotion campaign.
