Fenerbahce Eyeing a Move for Rangers Left-Back Ridvan Yilmaz

Turkish football giants Fenerbahce have been making headlines as they plan to bolster their squad for the upcoming season in the Super Lig. Recent reports suggest that the club is eyeing a move for Rangers left-back Ridvan Yilmaz and is also keen on a potential reunion with former player Ryan Kent in Istanbul. The Turkish outlet Fotospor has shed light on Fenerbahce’s transfer pursuits, revealing intriguing developments in their pursuit of new talent.

According to Turkish outlet Fotospor, Fenerbahce has shown a keen interest in securing the services of Rangers left-back Ridvan Yilmaz. The Istanbul-based club’s initial pursuit of Sassuolo full-back Mert Muldur seems to have hit a snag, prompting them to shift their focus to the 22-year-old Turkish international. It appears that Fenerbahce’s manager, İsmail Kartal, has identified Yilmaz as the ideal candidate to reinforce the left-back position, given the potential breakdown of the Muldur deal.

Originally, the plan was to convert Mert Muldur, a natural right-back, to play on the left. This tactical adjustment would have involved moving Ferdi Kadioglu to accommodate Muldur on the opposite flank. However, recent reports suggest that Fenerbahce’s boss now sees no future for center-back-turned-left-back Jayden Oosterwolde and Bright Osayi-Samuel, who has been linked with a move to Ibrox in the past, in his squad for the upcoming season.

Ridvan Yilmaz joined Rangers from Bestikas last summer in a deal worth £3.4m. However, the defender’s first season in Scotland did not go as smoothly as expected. Initially, Yilmaz struggled to adjust to his new environment away from Turkey. Additionally, a severe hamstring injury disrupted his campaign, affecting his consistency on the field.

Nevertheless, towards the end of the season, Yilmaz started to regain his form and gradually earned his place back in the Rangers team. As a result, he is now regarded by fans as the club’s top choice for the left-back position, generating considerable excitement for what he can bring to the team if fully fit and settled.

Fenerbahce’s ambitions to bolster their squad for the upcoming season are evident in their high-profile signings. The club has already secured the services of out-of-contract Rangers winger Ryan Kent. Moreover, notable additions, such as former Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko and Ajax’s former captain Dusan Tadic, have generated significant buzz around the Super Lig side.
