Derek Ferguson Hails Mohamed Diomande as a “Real Asset” to the Club

Former Rangers player Derek Ferguson showered praise on Mohamed Diomande, labeling the 22-year-old midfielder as a “real asset” for Rangers and commending his aggressive style of play.

Diomande has already left a significant mark in his short time with the club. Having made five appearances for the team, he notably scored in the recent 3-0 victory against St Johnstone on February 18 and contributed to the 5-0 thrashing of Hearts on January 24.

Ferguson, expressing his admiration for Diomande’s adaptation to the team, highlighted the player’s versatility and ability to perform in various positions on the field.

“It’s great that he’s got his goals, I think he’s adapted really well,” Ferguson stated. “I think when you listen to the manager, the way he speaks about him, and he looks a player who can play in numerous positions.”

The former Rangers midfielder emphasized the importance of having players who can adapt to different roles, noting that Diomande is not a “one-trick pony.” Ferguson speculated on the midfielder’s potential to act as a defensive midfielder but observed that, on first glance, he appears to be a box-to-box player.

“He’ll muck in in terms of doing the dirty stuff. He’s not a really well-built lad but he’s quite aggressive, and as we saw he scored that magnificent goal (versus St Johnstone),” Ferguson remarked.

In addition to his on-field contributions, Ferguson highlighted Diomande’s swift integration into the team, asserting that the midfielder has settled in quickly and is poised to become a genuine asset for the club.

“He’s settled in really quickly, that’s important and I think he’s going to be a real asset to the club,” Ferguson concluded, echoing the sentiment shared by many Rangers supporters as they witness Diomande’s positive impact on the team.
