Darren Bent Surprised Frank Lampard Hasn’t Been Appointed Manager of Rangers

Former footballer Darren Bent has expressed his surprise that Frank Lampard has not yet been appointed manager of Rangers or Celtic.

Lampard’s managerial career has been mixed so far, with spells at Derby County, Chelsea and Everton. Last year, he held talks with Rangers about succeeding Michael Beale, but the job ultimately went to Philippe Clement [Daily Record].

Speaking on talkSPORT Drive, Bent said: “I’m pretty sure he’ll get another opportunity at some point, but he does need to deliver after what happened at Derby, Chelsea and Everton. He needs to get back in the game. It is surprising to me that he hasn’t considered the Scottish route.”

When asked by co-host Andy Goldstein if he specifically meant Rangers or Celtic, Bent replied: “Yeah, absolutely. Look at what it did for Steven Gerrard’s career.”
