Chris Jack Claims Homegrown Rangers Ace Could Leave, Clement ‘Doesn’t Rate Him’

Rangers manager Philippe Clement is reportedly not convinced by Alex Lowry’s potential, and the young attacker may be on his way out of the club before the transfer deadline, according to journalist Chris Jack.

Speaking on The Rangers Review’s Morning Briefing on 16 August, Jack commented on the uncertain future of Lowry, despite the homegrown talent’s impressive performance for the B Team, where he scored a spectacular goal earlier in the week. However, Jack suggested that Clement’s decision to overlook Lowry indicates that the manager doesn’t see him as a key player moving forward.

“Because he’s not been given a chance by now, it shows that the manager clearly doesn’t rate him,” Jack said. “Whether that’s a quality issue, whether that’s what he does on the ball, off the ball, his attitude, something else, he clearly doesn’t fancy Alex Lowry as the answer. And it’s a shame.”

Jack also noted that Lowry isn’t the only academy product facing an uncertain future at Rangers, with fellow youngster Leon King also expected to leave before the transfer window closes. Despite Tom Lawrence’s inconsistent performances, Lowry has been informed by Clement that he won’t be getting game time, prompting interest from other clubs.

“I’d also be surprised if they were both still here come the first week in September,” Jack added, reflecting on the likelihood of Lowry and King departing the club soon.
