Blackburn Rovers Boss Confirms He Wants Rangers Ace before 30 August

Blackburn Rovers manager John Eustace has confirmed that Rangers winger Rabbi Matondo is among the club’s transfer targets as they look to strengthen their squad before the 30 August deadline.

Matondo, who has been linked with a move away from Ibrox throughout the summer, has been identified as a potential solution for Rovers’ issues on the left wing. The Welsh international is one of several options under consideration, along with Jubilo Iwata forward Ryo Germain.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday (22 August), Eustace addressed the speculation surrounding both players. “I think they are on the list along with 60 other players that the recruitment team have been looking at. They are, yes,” Eustace confirmed, as quoted by the Lancashire Telegraph.

However, Eustace was quick to temper expectations of an immediate deal. “There is nothing imminent. I wouldn’t expect anything before the weekend,” he added.

Rangers have reportedly set a £2 million asking price for Matondo, according to Football Scotland. The winger has also been linked with a move to Leeds United earlier in the transfer window, but Blackburn now appears to be leading the race for his signature. As the transfer deadline approaches, it remains to be seen whether Matondo will make the switch to Ewood Park.
