BBC Sport Pundit Can’t Believe What He Saw Rangers Do V Ross County

Billy Dodds lambasted the team’s defensive lapses following their 3-2 defeat against Ross County on Sunday (14 April). The loss dealt a significant blow to Rangers’ Scottish Premiership title hopes, leaving fans and pundits alike questioning the team’s capabilities.

Dodds, speaking on BBC Radio Scotland shortly after the match, expressed his dismay, stating, “Rangers look really nervous; they’re poor defensively.” He particularly highlighted the lack of organization in the backline, emphasizing, “Nobody picks up Simms. It’s a brilliant finish. However, it’s horrendous from Rangers defensively.”

The defeat came as a shock to many, especially considering Rangers’ early lead courtesy of a Jack Baldwin own goal just 15 minutes into the game. However, their momentum quickly fizzled out, and Ross County capitalized on defensive vulnerabilities to secure a convincing victory.

Reflecting on the timing of the lackluster performance, Dodds remarked, “Rangers could not really have picked a worse time to put in one of their worst performances of the Philippe Clement era.”

The defeat raises concerns for Rangers as they aim to maintain their position at the top of the Scottish Premiership table.
