BBC Pundit Destroys Rangers Player after What He Heard Clement Say

Rangers midfielder Todd Cantwell has come under fire from former Gers striker Rory Loy after expressing his desire to leave the club. Cantwell’s future at Ibrox has been cast into doubt after manager Philippe Clement revealed that the 26-year-old has asked for a new challenge, leading to his exclusion from the first team.

Loy, speaking on BBC’s Sportsound, didn’t hold back in his assessment of Cantwell’s decision, describing it as both puzzling and unprofessional.

“One thing that baffled me when Clement came out and spoke about Cantwell, he said Todd Cantwell was honest with him and said he wanted a new challenge,” Loy remarked. “I cannot for the life of me wrap my head around that. He’s come up here, won one trophy, Celtic have dominated, he’s been nowhere to be seen in Old Firm games.”

Loy was particularly critical of Cantwell’s performances against Celtic, noting that the midfielder has struggled to make an impact in the high-stakes Old Firm derbies. “Callum McGregor gets the better of him every single time, he’s running away from a challenge! What kind of new challenge is it you would like?” he questioned.

The former striker also pointed out the dilemma facing Clement, who must decide whether to reintegrate Cantwell or look for a replacement. “If Clement wants to keep him, put him on the transfer list or however, but he’s got to be professional and be available for selection,” Loy stated. “Todd Cantwell has a contract, he’s obliged to give his all to Rangers, he’s got to go out there and he could earn a move with performances.”

Loy emphasized the impact of Cantwell’s absence on the squad, warning that it could weaken Rangers’ midfield depth during crucial matches. He argued that re-integrating Cantwell could not only address this issue but also push other players to elevate their performances.

“Philippe Clement’s hands are tied,” Loy added. “He’s not picking him, not getting offers in, he’s got a player sitting there who could make the team better that’s saying he wants a new challenge when he’s completely failed at his current challenge. The whole situation is baffling.”

As the situation unfolds, Rangers will need to act swiftly to resolve Cantwell’s future, whether by re-integrating him into the squad or finding a suitable replacement. The uncertainty surrounding his commitment could prove detrimental to the team’s performance if left unresolved.
