Barry Ferguson and Mark Guidi are championing the idea of both Rangers and Celtic making a move for Aberdeen striker Bojan Miovski in the upcoming January transfer window. The North Macedonian forward showcased his goal-scoring prowess by netting his 11th goal of the season in all competitions against Philippe Clement’s side on Sunday. This performance follows an impressive tally of 16 goals in the previous Scottish Premiership season.
As Rangers grapple with consistency issues in front of the goal, with notable players such as Cyriel Dessers, Sam Lammers, and Danilo failing to find the back of the net regularly, Mark Guidi sees Miovski as a low-risk solution for the Gers or their Glasgow rivals Celtic. Speaking on the Go Radio Football Show on November 27, Guidi expressed his perspective, stating, “I always think whether it be Celtic or Rangers if you’re looking for somebody in January, somebody like Miovski or whoever it may be if they’re playing here, there’s no settling in problems. They know the league, they know the country, they know the culture. That’s always one thing that you’d have in your favour.”
Barry Ferguson swiftly concurred with Guidi’s viewpoint, emphasizing Miovski’s goal-scoring capabilities. “He’s shown that he can be good enough, 11 goals for an Aberdeen team that has struggled this season, let’s be honest. He’s definitely an out-and-out goalscorer and he has decent link-up play as well; he’s an international,” said Ferguson. He further added, “Why would you not look at players who are playing in the Premiership? We spoke about another player that we mention quite a lot, Lawrence Shankland, another goal at the weekend; he’s just a natural-born goal scorer.”
As the January transfer window approaches, the prospect of Bojan Miovski donning the jersey of either Rangers or Celtic is gaining traction, backed by the persuasive arguments of football experts Ferguson and Guidi. Miovski’s familiarity with the Scottish Premiership, along with his impressive goal-scoring record, positions him as an enticing option for clubs seeking a swift and effective solution to their scoring woes.
