Barry Ferguson Delivers Rangers Transfer Verdict as He Hails Added Creativity

Barry Ferguson expressed his satisfaction with the club’s activities in the January transfer window, emphasizing that the team has successfully met the demands set by manager Philippe Clement.

The Ibrox club made strategic moves to enhance their squad for the upcoming busy second half of the season, securing loan deals for Fabio Silva from Wolves, Mohamed Diomande from Nordsjaelland, and Oscar Cortes from Lens. Despite criticism from some fans, especially regarding the perceived need for a striker, Ferguson believes the club is now in a positive position moving forward.

Ferguson praised Rangers for their proactive approach to bolstering the squad, acknowledging the financial challenges faced by the club. He quoted Clement’s earlier statement, acknowledging that Rangers is not among the wealthiest clubs globally, highlighting the need for creativity in the transfer market.

“I take my hat off to Rangers for the work they have done to beef up Philippe Clement’s squad. The men in charge of the finances have also shown they have ambition to match the manager’s demands,” wrote Ferguson.

He cautioned against getting carried away, emphasizing that there is still a considerable amount of work to be done for Rangers to reclaim their position in the football hierarchy. However, Ferguson expressed optimism about the club’s direction and a sense of alignment from top to bottom, a sentiment that hasn’t always been evident over the past decade.

Ferguson specifically praised the signings of Mohamed Diomande and Oscar Cortes, citing the financial intelligence behind Diomande’s loan deal, allowing the club to secure a promising talent without a significant immediate financial outlay. He also acknowledged that both players might take some time to integrate fully into the team but believes their presence will be a significant boost.

“I’m quietly pleased with what I’ve been seeing and with the progress that’s clearly being made under Clement. He started early by bringing in Fabio Silva on loan from Wolves before January had even begun, and by adding Mohamed Diomande and Oscar Cortes over the past few days, he’s added to the options available,” Ferguson remarked.
