Barry Ferguson Advocates Lawrence Shankland’s Move to Rangers in January Transfer Window

Barry Ferguson has voiced his opinion regarding Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland’s potential transfer to Rangers in the upcoming January window. In a recent statement, Ferguson emphasized the promising attributes of the Scottish international, suggesting that a move to Rangers could be the next logical step in his career.

Rangers have been at the center of transfer speculation, with many reports linking them to Lawrence Shankland, who has gained recognition for his impressive goal-scoring performances in recent months. This speculation intensified when Shankland netted a goal against Philippe Clement’s side, amidst a buzzing Ibrox crowd, further fueling the transfer rumors.

Ferguson’s endorsement of Shankland’s potential transfer to Rangers is evident in his remarks on Go Radio, as he stated: “I was so impressed with Lawrence Shankland. Take away the goal, his link-up play, build-up play, I think as he’s got older he’s got better. I would be inquiring and asking what is the script, how long has he got left on his contract. What would it cost? I am not saying Lawrence Shankland is going to score 30 goals in Europe or get you further in the Europa League. But he is a very good football player, and I would be looking at that and thinking to myself ‘is there a possibility that could happen?’”

Shankland, currently 28 years old, has demonstrated the talent and potential that merit a move to a prominent club. Ferguson suggests that the time is ripe for the striker to make a transition, as strikers tend to be at their prime before they cross the age of 30. The upcoming nine months could be crucial for Shankland to secure a transfer to a bigger club.

One of the standout moments in Shankland’s recent career was his “magnificent” goal against Celtic, which showcased his ability to perform against formidable opponents. Furthermore, his ability to find the back of the net against Rangers underscores his consistency, even when his team may not be as strong on paper.

Shankland’s versatility is an additional asset, as he is capable of playing as a number 10 or on the right wing. Should Rangers succeed in securing his signature, it will be interesting to see where he will be positioned within the squad.
