American Consortium Eyes £150m Rangers Takeover Bid

An American business consortium is reportedly preparing to make a £150 million bid to take over Rangers Football Club, according to recent reports.

The interest from U.S. investors comes after a previous attempt by American business tycoon Kyle Fox to invest in the club was rebuffed by Ibrox shareholders last year. Fox had pulled back from her plans, citing unmet conditions and a lack of willingness from the shareholders to sell.

While Fox has not re-entered discussions, City AM reports that other American investors are now considering bids for a minority stake in the club. The consortium values Rangers at approximately £150 million.

The club’s principal shareholders include former chairman Dave King, who holds a 14 percent stake and is regarded as a “willing seller,” and his successor Douglas Park, who owns 12 percent. Additionally, eight other entities, including the supporters’ group Club 1872, which holds a 4.96 percent stake, own shares of less than 10 percent each.
