Alan Hutton Urges Rangers to Sign Bristol City’s Striker Tommy Conway

Alan Hutton believes Tommy Conway would be a valuable addition to Rangers.

An impressive 2023/24 season at the Championship level for Tommy Conway has seen the young Scotland international attract significant transfer interest. According to The Bristol Post, Wolves, along with Scottish giants Celtic and Rangers, are keen on signing the 21-year-old this summer. With just 12 months remaining on his contract at Ashton Gate, Bristol City faces pressure to sell Conway to avoid losing him for free next summer.

Speaking to Football League World, Hutton said, “For the right price, he would be a good signing, but I think it will be a decent price if I’m honest.”

He added, “I really like what I’ve seen from him so far. Before he was in the Scotland squad, I didn’t know too much about him. I know he scored 12 goals for Bristol City, but what he does is bring something different to Rangers.”

Hutton emphasized Conway’s unique qualities compared to Rangers’ current attackers: “You look at Dessers and Danilo, they want to come forward, link up, and have their back to goal, whereas Conway interests me because he wants to go in behind. He works ever so hard, he’s calm with the ball at his feet in front of goal, so I think he ticks a lot of boxes for Rangers and offers something different.”

Hutton concluded, “I’d love to see him there. They need someone like that, so it would be interesting to see what the fee is and whether they can get it over the line or not.”

As the transfer window approaches, the battle for Tommy Conway’s signature is set to intensify, with Bristol City poised to weigh their options to secure the best deal for their promising forward.
