Rangers Asked to Lower £4.2 Million Transfer Fee for Jose Cifuentes by Loan Club Aris

Rangers have been approached by Greek side Aris Thessaloniki to renegotiate the £4.2 million transfer fee for midfielder Jose Cifuentes. The 25-year-old Ecuadorian joined the ambitious Super League club on a loan deal earlier this year, with an option to buy at the specified price.

Cifuentes has impressed during his time in Greece, making 13 appearances and helping Aris secure fifth place in the league. However, reports from Greece suggest that Aris has expressed concerns over the original asking price, prompting them to enter discussions with Rangers to revise the terms of the agreement.

Aris reportedly contacted Rangers officials last week in an effort to reach a more favorable deal. This marks the second time Cifuentes has left Ibrox this year. In February, he joined Brazilian club Cruzeiro on loan, but his stint there ended poorly, with the midfielder making just three competitive starts before being sidelined from the first-team picture. He returned to Rangers briefly over the summer before making the move to Greece, where his performances have been more successful.

Rangers are now facing pressure to lower their asking price for Cifuentes, with Aris keen to secure a permanent deal at a more manageable fee.
